Meet The Maker // Of Note Stationers

We are thrilled to have a new stationery brand in store - Of Note Stationers, a small Boston-based letterpress studio that we recently discovered. We fell in love with the beautiful simplicity of the designs and sentiments conveyed. Here's a bit more about them:

Hi Kate, tell us about Of Note Stationers

We are Isabel and Kate, two friends with a mutual love for the handwritten word. Isabel went to school with my boyfriend’s brother and through them we were introduced and became fast friends. We are a small operation, just the two of us working out of our respective homes in the Fenway and Jamaica Plain neighborhoods of Boston. One day we hope to have a studio for two with tons of natural light and room for a letterpress but for now we are happily chugging along at a small scale.

How did you get into letterpress, and where do you find your inspiration?

Our love for letterpress began when Isabel was designing her wedding invitations.  After taking a letterpress course with a friend of ours, we decided this was the medium for our cards. For us, Of Note Stationers is a response to a very digital and fast paced world. We design stationery to inspire meaningful, everyday correspondence, to encourage people to reach out, share what is often left unsaid, or simply let someone know they are thinking of them.

If we could come and visit your neighbourhood where would you take us?

Boston, Massachusetts is a historic city with a strong connection to you all across the pond! We’d first have to take you to Tatte our favorite Bakery & Cafe. From there we’d take you farther into to the city and show you the old reading room in the Boston Public Library. If the weather permitted we’d sit in the courtyard where Isabel and I had one of our first meetings for Of Note. We’d walk along Charles Street in Beacon Hill and peek into Black Ink for paper goods and Good for homewares. For dinner we’d head to Mei Mei for Asian inspired sharing plates.

That sounds like our perfect day. Thank you Kate!
