BRAND / Kaweco
Kaweco pens, established since 1883 in Heidelberg Germany are renowned for their iconic pocket fountain pens.
There are only a few writing instruments which have been successful in the market for decades without big changes. One of them is the Kaweco Classic Sport Fountain Pen – a personal favourite of ours. It was designed for ladies, officers and sportsmen as a ‘carry anywhere pen’. Its unique hexagonal appearance is much loved and apparent as the design remains unchanged since 1911. Their retro styling carries through to the packaging, with many pens displayed in a vintage tin with old-school iconography. The product range continuously expands. Classic design and high-quality manufacturing are still at the core of the brand’s philosophy today.
At just 10.5 cm big when closed, and with the cap on top of the barrel it grew to a standard size pen. Small in the pocket and big in the hand: The Kaweco Sport.
Sepp Herberger already appreciated these characteristics. It was with a Kaweco Sport that the former coach of the German national soccer team wrote on a piece of paper his winning tactics which brought the Germans to the world cup in 1954.
Each new product is carefully designed, drawing inspiration from Kaweco’s heritage, but incorporating modern manufacturing techniques. Prototypes are produced, discussed, tested and refined over and over. It’s a time-consuming and expensive process but it pays off in the quality and reliability of the end product.
